Kyle Thompson breaks into houses

A short while ago I put up some photos by Kyle Thompson.

After reading nearly every page of his blog, I found more that are amazing.

Long since dead

This was a long dead pelican that we found on the beach in Meroo. Its head was missing.

The light leak on my shitty camera was getting pretty bad at this point. I later tried to fix it with some gum. We will see how that worked when I get my latest film back..

While thus the quiet-coloured eve smiles to leave

I escaped to the bush with a couple of friends after having a tough time in town. It was just a short stay, but this picture reminds me of the calm.  I have six different prints of this scattered around my life at the moment.

The title of this post is from a poem by Browning which seemed appropriate.

Stoppit Kyle Thompson

These are some photographs by Kyle Thompson.
He is pretty young and pretty great.
His other work includes breaking into abandoned buildings around the states and taking photos of the lives that were once there.
He also has a blog where he posts more photos and answers questions.

First post Friday

This was the first thing I ever wrote on this old thing:

Sunday, April 5, 2009

I find lots of hair on the floor at my house. But not all of it is my hair, some of it is other peoples. You can tell if you pick up the hair and let it hang. If it is straight and short and blonde, it is mine. If it is long and wavy and brown, it is Jasmines and if it is long and blonde it is Mels. If it isn't any of those things then it belongs to someone else and someone else has been in our flat, and some of their hair has fallen out.

Strange Worlds series by Mathew Albanese

I like things that look like something but are something else. Jersey born, Mathew Albanese makes works like this. He builds super real, meticulous mini landscapes out of every day things like walnuts and peanut shells, cotton wool balls and such and then photographs them. Here are some.

How to breath underwater

Box of Lightning

 DIY Paradise

It's not happening here. But it is happening now. (Old Amnesty International Switzerland Campaign)

I think this is fairly old but I never saw it before. Maybe you did...
